Geico is my auto insurance company. The rates are reasonable, the company has treated me well, and I trust the brand.
So when I logged into my auto insurance portal and saw a link for life insurance, I knew something was up because GEICO does not sell life insurance.
I did some research, and here is my RiskQuoter review as of May 2023.
Company Overview
GEICO stands for Government Employees Insurance Company.
Started in 1936 to help military families, Geico has evolved into an auto insurance company with 18 million auto insurance policies in force and growing.
I trust the GEICO name. I have my auto insurance with them; they’ve been good for me, and the company is an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of the Berkshire Hathaway Company.
But guess how many life insurance policies GEICO has in force? ZERO. NONE. NADA. ZILCH.
That’s because they are not a life insurance company.
If you’re confused, check out this article as we explain exactly what is happening with Geico life insurance.
Ratings Information
As of May 2023, GEICO has the following financial strength ratings.
- AM Best – A++
- Standard & Poors – AA+
- Moody’s – Aa1
From a rating standpoint, it is a solid company.

Does GEICO Have Life Insurance?
If you remember one thing about Geico life insurance, remember this:
GEICO does not sell life insurance!
That’s right. The Government Employees Insurance Company does not sell life insurance.
I logged in to my auto portal and followed the link for life insurance. If you follow the link to life insurance and scroll down to the bottom of the page, you will see the following disclaimer:
“GEICO Insurance Agency, LLC has partnered with affiliated and non-affiliated partners to provide some insurance products. When you click on their link you will be taken to their website, which is not owned or operated by GEICO. GEICO has no control over their privacy practices and assumes no responsibility in connection with your use of their website. Any information that you directly provide is subject to the privacy posted on their website.”
Geico.com/life-insurance
So, what does this mean?
A non-affiliated company sells life insurance, meaning that the non-affiliated company is not closely associated with GEICO! It’s just a separate third-party company.
You will be sent to a third-party insurance agency site if you click “Get a life insurance quote.” If you read the fine print, you’ll see this:
“If you choose to get a rate quote online, you will be taken to the website of Life Quotes, Inc or Ladder Insurance Services, LLC. These websites are not owned by GEICO Insurance Agency LLC. Any information that you provide directly to them on their websites is subject to the privacy policy posted on that website, which you should read before proceeding. GEICO Insurance Agency LLC. assumes no responsibility for their privacy practices or your use of either website.”

Bottom Line – The only thing Geico is selling related to life insurance is you.
You can bet that they receive payment from the above agencies if you send it to these third-party sites.
Is Geico Life Insurance Good?
Geico life insurance is neither good nor bad because the company doesn’t even sell life insurance.
There are no life insurance policies available from this company.
Life insurance quotes are not available anywhere, anytime, or anyplace because…GEICO doesn’t sell life insurance policies.
If you need help in the future, you can’t call GEICO to help you, as your life policy has nothing to do with them.
Can I bundle my life insurance with other Geico insurance policies?
There is no opportunity for savings because they do not issue life insurance policies.
There are no billing advantages either since the life insurance company will be a different company.
Companies that offer home, auto, and life insurance include Allstate, State Farm, and Nationwide.
Geico Term Life Insurance
If you’re looking for a wide variety of term life insurance policy options, don’t look here.
While many life insurance companies offer various term lengths to meet your needs, this company does not offer any term lengths.
The following term lengths ARE NOT available:
- 10-Year Term – No
- 15-Year Term – No
- 20-Year Term – No
- 30-Year Term – No
- 40-Year Term – No
Why not, you ask? Because the company does not sell term life insurance. If you want great term life insurance rates, Banner Life, Protective Life, and Corebridge Financial have some of the best rates available.
Geico Whole Life Insurance
Guess what? You’re wasting your time if you are looking for a GEICO whole-life insurance policy.
It doesn’t matter if you want participating or non-participating whole life insurance because whole life insurance is unavailable.
Do you want a dividend-paying whole-life policy? Too bad it’s not available.
If you want whole life insurance, we recommend Mass Mutual, Guardian, and Penn Mutual.
Geico Final Expense
Geico’s final expense insurance is like the tooth fairy…non-existent.
But guess who does offer final expense life insurance?
Wellabe, Transamerica, Colonial Penn, and Gerber Life.
What Do Their Life Insurance Policies Offer?
You probably know where this is going now, but here it goes.
GEICO life insurance policies offer you absolutely nothing…do you know why?
That’s because they don’t sell life insurance!
How about life insurance riders like children’s term insurance, accidental death, waiver, or premium?
No, No, and No, not with GEICO.
But Assurity, Lincoln National, and John Hancock offer plenty of riders, as do Prudential, Sagicor, and almost every other company.
We can’t show you a quote comparison because GEICO doesn’t offer life insurance, but we can show you a quote from one of the top-rated companies that we have available.
Life Insurance Customer Service
Do you need help with your GEICO life insurance policy?
Of course not, because GEICO doesn’t sell life insurance and doesn’t have a policy owner service department for life insurance.
There is no life insurance customer service phone number to call.
Do you need to file a death claim with them? You can’t.
